Removing Coil Screws from Backplate Villiers Mk 15
Can anyone help with removing the coil screws from the back of the flywheel plate?
I have circled the ones I mean in the accompanying image. I have used WD40 from both ends, leaving them for a few days to pernitrate but no luck, I am in danger of burring the screw heads.
Is it time to apply some heat from a blow torch?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I take it the coil is U/S and you want to change it? If not I don't think I would want to use heat near it.
This is the 'old school' way of shifting stubborn screws.

Use a proper penetrating fluid such as Plusgas (WD40 is a water dispersant) and as suggested above, an impact driver.

As mattblack said, is the coil duff?
Agree with Stuart, Plus Gas and lots of patience - days of it!
When you apply Plus Gas you could also try putting the screw driver into the slot and giving them a few light taps with a hammer - taking care not to cause any damage - it may just jar the threads enough to get them moving.

Hello together,
Thanks for the info and yes the coil is duff. I'll sort out some Plus Gas and give some days to penetrate.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks all.

In the past I have resorted to brute force using a hammer and chisel , they can be and often are really tight or rusted into the iron cores.

You could also try drilling the heads off the screws with a centre drill to start then a correctly sized drill to remove the head.
