Spoilt for Choice Empty Spoilt for Choice

In all the years I have been collecting engines the last couple of weekends have both been firsts for me.
Did anyone else on here go to the HJ Pugh sale in Ledbury, subject of the last post? There were in fact over 130 engines and I've not seen so many stationary engines together at one sale before. I have attached a picture to give a flavour of the scene before the auction, they were in all sorts of condition ranging from older restorations to some only fit for parts. The most numerous seemed to be Amancos which were everywhere, though some were wrongly attributed.

Then last weekend there was a very locally advertised farm sale in Llandyssul which had a row of pallets with from 1 to 4 engines/accessories on them and were sold by the pallet load! Most were unrestored and with parts missing. Yes , I was trying to free up space and get rid of a few engines but I couldn't resist one pallet load  Smile

Great, a vintage concrete block Laughing

The early Ruston PT's are not particularly common, a good find.

The concrete block is obviously an important part of one of these engines, but I don't know which silent

The Ruston was the main reason I bought the lot, I am not too familiar with the PT's, usually with the overhung hopper making them look an ugly lump but this hopper is symmetrical over the head and then I noticed the 'old style carburettor' and it also has a Villiers flywheel magneto. I just need to free off the external parts now, but at least it turns over.

Have just heard back from Ray Hooley and the Ruston PT was built in 1939.
It went apparently to Fullwood and Bland (who sold Manus vacuum pumps) so it is probably an ex milking machine engine.
