Carb. float
Hi, I have bought a recently a 1948 Wolesley WD2 and I am having problems with the carb flooding, I have dismantled the carb and found out somebody has bodged the float, they have soldered two wires on the float to grip the valve stem but the float is slipping up the stem which is causing the problem with the flooding. Does anybody know where I can buy a new float from, I have tried the Amal web site but they don't have them for this type of Amal carb.
Thanks, Bernard.

Re: Carb. float
Give us a size, and I may have one, they may even be the two wire ones, if it's the right size, usually they have a notch in the stem, no notch?

carb float
Hi Keith, thanks for the reply, the valve stem does have a notch in it but the wires that have been soldered on are that thin they are worse than useless, I will take the float out at the weekend and send you the sizes.Keith-PU8 wrote:Give us a size, and I may have one, they may even be the two wire ones, if it's the right size, usually they have a notch in the stem, no notch?

Hi Bernard,
The post I mentioned above shows how to replace the wires. It's not terribly difficult.

Re: Carb. float
All the Wolseley WD's I have encountered have had the two soldered wires on the float, they are often broken at one end. Some have had several grooves in the needle to adjust the float level.
