Gib Key Extractor
I needed to extract the Gib key on my Petter A1 and after looking at the style available for the Lister D I thought how hard can it be?.
I got a square piece of 10mm plate, holesaw to the shaft diameter and 4 M10 tapped holes in the corners, then quite a lot of filing later I had this...

It fitted a treat...

Nearly there...

The end result, looks like I was lucky the head didn't pull off as a previous owner had attacked it with an angry grinder by the look of it

The large notch fits over the head of the key then rotate the puller a few degrees so the smaller notch engages behind the head, the second photo shows how it fits.

I worked that bit out from the good photos...
but isn't the gib key flush on the flywheel so how did you make enough space between gib and the flywheel in order to use the jig you made.

Re: Gib Key Extractor
The Gib key should have at least 10-12mm behind the head when fitted correctly, it took me a lot of filing and test fitting of the new key to get it (nearly) right

Claas gib key tool
Hi,do you know anywhere that does these for less than £30 please? I need to get a couple of gib keys out but I can't get to the end of the shaft,so I can't use the type of puller shown at the start of this post and as someone else said, the steel would need to be very hard to make the Claas type.
Cheers,Graham.

Re: Gib Key Extractor
Or get some flat bar, 8mm thick and cut your own. Doesn't need to be long, the one I use most is only 6 inches and I've never had any issues.
