Re: Norman t300 ongoing dismantle
Barrels are now on and tappets set, flywheel has been powder coated and ready to go on when my good friend chris has polished inner on his lathe for me. now for the bad news - took dip stick out to paint letters and noticed a small amount of oil on stick even though its been previously flushed and cleaned thoroughly, flushed again with petrol and removed some sludge from god knows where, repeated around 8 times until clearing but noticed some finings in flushed fuel/oil and on last flush some larger pieces. totally baffled as to where all this has come from as when the barrels were off I flushed/cleared thru repeatedly until it was spotless in both crankcase and sump. planning to move onto inlet manifold and carb next but feel a bit glum after finding these finings in previously spotless sump. Then its plug leads before finally the magneto which I hope is good (any info on magneto checking appreciated) . cheers Mark
will try and post barrels on pic again!

This engine has a number of places where oil can hide, like in the bottom of the gear case, and in the oil pump and galleries. Did you also check the oil filter?

Nice work, gives me an incentive to get cracking on mine. Just need to get the Villiers MK40 finished.

If you fancy going completely over the top, you could go for screened leadsSparkieb wrote:Magneto and carb next, ohh and plug leads. Needs some copper core cable

not over the top at all, as this would seem to be original on the OP's engine

Re: Norman t300 ongoing dismantle
Very tidy. Still jealous about the intact air filer and exhausts
