This engine was restored by my late father in the early 1980's. It has been at the back of my garage for many years.  I had to do some work on the mag and carb, and it now runs well.

It is rated at 4 BHP at 1400 RPM, and has the half speed cam extension drive.  According to Jim it was delivered to a factory in Manchester September 1948.

I am in the engine reconditioning business, and i may rig it direct drive to a generator, keeping the half speed drive option as well.

Regards Footy.

You're a lucky man Footy, a friend donated a small briggs engine to me with a similar story - wheras yours looks well cared for mine was a thin metal bin of spiders webs and crud - so enjoy the fruits of your fathers labor so many years ago!

Best
