r and h engine mag.
I recently got a R and H pt engine and I wondered if anyone knows if these engines ever had impulse mags. After a bit of twiddling this one now has a good spark on the bench but when it's mounted on the engine it's very difficult to turn the engine over fast enough to get a spark at the plug. Just thought it was worth asking before I do myself a mischief!

As far as I can remember the PT had the RS1 or the SR1 and never a Wico with an impulse on it, if you have to swing it over really fast then you have an issue somewhere, poor earth or duff mag.

Thanks for that Villiers, I'll try some more with the mag. Checked the earth with a meter and it was good.

They were fitted for a time with an impulse wico, but the mounting is different, the Lucas mags sit on a platform while wicos bolt on with 2 bolts onto a flange
