BTH magneto query
Hi all, this Norman T300 that has just arrived, photo in Project/restorations section, has a BTH magneto fitted on the mag. the end cap covering the points is a bakelite one, is this correct ? it fits perfect but the last engine I had with a BTH mag was around 8 or so years ago and just cannot remember if it was the same type or something different that was fitted.
Reason for asking is no spark up to now, but of course I have not looked anywhere else yet, so if it is a correct fitment that cancels out the first query out.

Paul, you have jogged my memory, that what was fitted to my Coventry Victor MA1 engine BTH mag, I had a good few years ago, have just done a bit searching on youtube and found a marine engine video with the Bakelite cap cap fitted as mine has.
Thank you, Don

Don, I still have your old CV twin. Bought it around 6 - 7 years ago from a fellow collector up here. I have since replaced a missing oil ring and sorted a bad oil leak at one of the cylinders. Redid the gaskets around the carburettor and the intake pipes. It is running much better but still tends to drop off onto one cylinder. I am suspicious the mag needs attention but haven't been back to it in a while. I also have the MW2 water cooled model. Flat twins are nice things when running well, they do like to drink fuel though...! There is still a video on Youtube of your engine when it was painted burgundy, now blue. Cheers Dave
