Lister Cs 6/1 fan. 8a87a410

Thanks for having me on the forum.
Thought I’d post a picture of my lister CS 6/1 circa 1939. Powering a 3.4Kwa alternator to run things at a camping barn in Northumberland UK. It’s been there 10 years, starting up faithfully when asked, often stood for af ew months between our visits. Runs on Biodiesel I make from waste vegetable oil very nicely. It has a glow plug instead of the compression change over valve, so hook it up to a 12v battery to start. Exhausted outside via a heat exchanger. I have set up the water jacket to run out to the exhaust heat exchanger then to a central heating pump and round into a coil in a hot water cylinder: free hot water, then a radiator. Fantastic. Due a decarb now, so stripping down and carting off home to spend some time over winter to do this in the garage.

Over the years I’ve grown to love this engine and the engineering that put it together.
I’ve a couple of questions for people, but will post in main section with those.

Andy

Hi Andy and a very warm welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are intent on going 'off grid'. Love the idea of using exhaust to heat hot water.
