Ah - tricky.
I only have one and it's stuck in my V engine. Will keep my eyes open.

As you say Chiefy not really needed but was trying to keep original, as it turns out have checked the suppressed leads and they are leaking as well
making the spark at the plug very weak,so have decided and made up some new leads using the connectors and normal plugs and now have a nice fat spark at the plugs.

Re: Douglas FT35 generating set
I have today done a bit more to the engine, brought it in from the cold on a table in the kitchen, no one but me and the dog to complain, lol
new rings from Cox and Turner checked, gapped and fitted, replaced the barrels, checked valve clearences etc, just need to get some painting done before I can fit much more.

Re: Douglas FT35 generating set
What a difference a whole day and part of the evening makes, so this morning had an electric motor with a v belt attached to help bed in the rings before trying to start it, then fired her up very happy with it.

Very nice. Keep up the good work and you should be able to show it off to your neighbours on Christmas Day!

Re: Douglas FT35 generating set
UPDATE As its been nearly a year since getting the FT35 thought it was about time I did some work on the frames etc so nights and bits of weekends painting and had this morning off to fit it back up now to get some power from the generator and dynamo hopefully

Looks great.
Could you post a better picture of the wiring diagram on the end of the tank please.

Hi Blue cat, hope this helps, I wonder if you would know how to get some sort of power out of the gen and alternator as not getting anything at the moment, but not spent any time on them yet except making sure everything is wired up correctly and stripped and cleaned them both out, they look as though they did not get much use as they are like new inside. Electrics on these is not my strong point but as they have not been used for so long I am guessing they will need flashing across the fields.

Re: Douglas FT35 generating set
Thanks rich07961,
I was interested because I have a similar generator (AC and DC) set up on a Norman generating set and am also wondering how to set it up. I'm guessing that there is another diagram for the control box which plugs into the niphan socket, and which will contain a variable resistor to set the DC voltage/current wired between pins 3 and 4. Also guessing that part of the DC will go to energise the AC generator as well before that will produce any power.
