stuart water pump Empty stuart water pump

Post by csm1406 Fri Feb 28 2014, 17:54

Hi
I have one of these and it has a disc as the driving wheel therefore I think it wad designed to be driven by an electric motor - my Q is is there a plate to fix to the pump on to which I can fit a motor & which motor should I fit.

Thanks in anticipation.

If using an electric motor then there should be a motor plate on top of the pump to which the motor is bolted.
Unless you have particularly long suction or delivery pipes, then a 1/4hp motor will be fine.

I don't agree with your assumption that a solid steel disc pulley means that it was originally motor driven.
This is more likely to be an economy measure by the manufacturer as it will be cheaper then an aluminium pulley.

Both types of pulley were driven by electric motors, the disc type is the later one.  My pump had the motor mounting plate still fitted.

Pete.

That's because most people paint over it!!

Agree with Pete, ali pulley first then the pressed steel one.

Hi Thanks for input - I think I can drive the pump from my Lister engine but if anyone has a spare mounting plate for an electric motor I would be interested in Purchasing it.

Again Thanks for Input !

Hi, I have one of those mounting plates, I also have the original motor as well but it is untested. £10 for the two if you are interested. Rob
